Founder’s Day is a special day for any institution, especially for one that is striving to impart the highest quality of all round education while ensuring that the ancient culture of its people and land continues to be nurtured and preserved. On 24th September, Druk Padma Karpo School, Shey celebrated its Founder’s Day, albeit a less pompous one than previous years. The school, which is a very personal project of His Holiness The Gyalwang Drukpa, which was was founded in the year 2001 and has been a pioneer in the field of education in Ladakh, ever since. In the past five years alone, over 400 students have successfully passed out of the school under the priceless leadership and guidance of His Holiness The Gyalwang Drukpa (Founding Father) and His Eminence Skyabje Thuksey Rinpoche (Chairman, DPKS). Keeping in mind the entering of His Eminence Zhichen Bairo Rinponche (His Holiness The Gyalwang Drukpa’s beloved father) into the Parinirvana state, earlier this month, the school decided to pay him a silent homage, while keeping the Founder’s Day commemorations modest and minimum. To do this, the teachers and students of the school got together to write a heart-rending ode in Bothi to their founding father. The song is a declaration of love, admiration and gratitude for His Holiness The Gyalwang Drukpa. Here is a translated excerpt of the song: “On this Founding Day, We, the teachers and students Pay homage to you, Oh loving, giving father and Guru!” His Holiness has been an ambassador of kindness, compassion, peace and rightfulness, who has positively influenced the lives of millions through his teachings. And the members of the DPKS family will be forever indebted to him for being their guiding light.

The team and students of Druk Padma Karpo are thrilled and encouraged to be a part of the initiative supported by department of School Education & Literacy Ministry of Human Resource Development , Govt; of India, New Delhi ‘s propelled initiatives by the “MIND MINGLE” team .This programme at the national level facilitates and creates opportunities for school leaders across the country to learn the best practices from most creative & top schools in India and abroad through practical school visits and group discussions. The design of the programme is such that the leaders of the school interact with students and faculty, sessions with Founder/director of the schools to understand the best educational practices being followed there. A community of such 39 school leaders are now opportune to visit one such school in the Himalayan region” The Druk Padma Karpo School, Shey, Leh - Ladakh.

The Academic session 2017'- came to an end amidst great enthusiasm and expectations! The students once again proved their mettle in the prime academics , other umpteen extra curricular activities and various other inter- house competitive categories.Apart from the academic excellence ,most progressive students of the years were appreciated and recognized and encouraged . The HARMONY house bagged the BEST HOUSE of the year, with blaring applauds!! Ms. lanzes of 4th, Std won herself a pair of Ice- skates for the Most Consistent English Speaker for the Junior section. The event saw its conclusion with the session's last Parent Teacher Meet, with the final address by the school's Deputy Chair and Principal. We thus welcome !yet another year of immense learning, teaching and progressing together with our beautiful students.

The entire family of DPKS rejoices the commendable feat of Stanzin Namdol of Standard 9th , who bagged the medallion for the second position in the Inter School District long distance running organized by the District Youth Service and Sports of Leh – Ladakh. Heartiest congratulations Namdol.

Ambedkar Jayanti Day, 14th April, is an annual festival holiday to commemorate the birthday of Dr. B.R.Ambedkar, founding father of the Indian constitution. Ambedkar was a strong advocator of social equality, right to dignity and a social reformer. The students of DPKS took part in a procession through the town of Leh organized by the Ladakh Buddhist Association to demand the Bhoti language to be included in the 8th schedule of the Indian constitution. The event created a massive procession involving lots of schools in and around the town with slogans, placards and essay competitions to mark the importance of the day.

31st , Oct : Druk Padma assessed its final academic evaluation and declared its final results as its annual proclamation day amidst throng of students and parents. Awards, certifications, trophies,medallions and other forms of appreciations were conferred on the students as well as teachers during the fore-noon prog. Post lunch- was designed to meet the last session PTM-2015, in the presence of the school management committee chaired by H.Eminence Thuksey Rinpochey. We congratulate our kids for the wonderful and progressive results achieved !!
